Do you run an independent coffee shop or community space? It could be the perfect location for a Freelance Folk popup coworking session.
What happens at a coworking event?
Our coworking sessions are informal opportunities for freelancers (or anyone who works from home) to get out of the house and meet others in similar situations. People bring their laptops and work alongside each other whilst chatting, much as they would in an office environment, and the events are generally about three hours long.
What’s involved for a venue host?
Prior to the event, you’d help with promotion via your own channels (e.g. social media, mailing list, website, noticeboard) and I’ll send over both physical and digital materials to help with this including posters, logos and images, and some blurb that you can use when talking about the session.
On the day, you would ensure that the space is reserved and set up ready for the coworking session, then welcome people and explain how it works. You don’t need to stay with the group for the whole session (although it could be an opportunity to catch up on admin) but it generally works better for host venues if there’s at least a basic level of interaction from the people who work there.
What are the benefits of hosting?
The coworking sessions can be a great way to bring custom in at quiet times, and to raise awareness of your space as a freelance friendly venue. All venue partners are listed on the website in the events section, and we’ll also do a welcome feature about you.
Attendees also benefit from being part of the wider Freelance Folk community, and you can offer perks that last beyond the event such as discounts or rewards to people who are Freelance Folk members.
